With over 11 years experience in the Retail industry, Rashid has developed, leased and asset managed some of the Middle East’s most successful shopping centres, for some of the region’s most respected mall owners, developers and operators. In that time he has proven his ability to build and lead teams of professionals, delivering the regions’ highest grossing sales per square foot shopping centres.
Rashid has been Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of three organisations to date: EmaarMalls Group, Emaar Retail (concurrently) and Meraas Malls and Hospitality.
In this capacity he built and led organisations that delivered the entire retail asset spectrum; community, regional and super regional malls. At Emaar Malls Group, Rashid devised and led a 100 million square foot, retail development roll-‐out plan across the Middle East, North Africa and the Asian subcontinent. He worked on, led and delivered, numerous multi-‐billion dollar assets, including the Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping centre with a Gross Leasable Area of over 3.7 million sq ft, which translates into over 1200 shops.
At Emaar Retail, he established several leisure/entertainment businesses with international partners, namely Reel Cinemas, Kidzania and Sega Republic. At Meraas Malls and Hospitality, he planned, and led the way, for the retail and hospitality components within the “Jumeirah Garden” master plan development, a $92 billion project.
Rashid graduated from the University of Denver in Colorado, USA with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, double majoring in Finance and Business Administration. He was recognized and awarded two honours for scholastic achievement.
Between 2005 and 2007, Rashid was selected to attend the Sheikh Mohammed Leadership Program in Dubai. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC) and is the current serving President for the Middle East Council of Shopping Centres (MECSC)
