Nasser Abulhasan

    Principal/Partner, AGi Architects. Received Doctor in Design from Harvard Graduate School of Design, Masters in Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and Bachelor in Architecture and Urban Design from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University,   
    His area of research is in sustainable developments in arid climates and focuses on the perception of light in buildings.  Dr. Abulhasan has extensive experience in the design and implementation of new communities and has worked on numerous high profiles master planning projects in Europe and the Middle East.   
    His design experience includes building types such as commercial office buildings and complexes, mixed-use facilities, government buildings, and other institutional buildings  
    Dr. Abulhasan worked on several major international projects for offices including SOM and Hashim Sarkis Architects until he founded, together with Joaquin Perez-Goicoechea, AGi Architects in 2005. Since then, as co-director of AGi Architects, he has completed several projects in the fields of building, urban design, planning, and interior & industrial design, and has been honored on several occasions both nationally and internationally. Among these prizes are A’Design Awards 2014, 2013 & 2012, Middle East Architect Awards 2014, 2013 & 2012, MIPIM Architectural Review Future Projects Awards 2012, International Property Awards 2012, 2011 & 2010, WAF Awards 2014, 2013, 2011, 2010 & Hospital Build & Infrastructure Awards 2012, Cityscape Awards 2011, 2010 & 2009 and also the first prize of the contest to build the Parish of Ascension of the Lord, Seville, Spain , the Kuwait Children’s Hospital and The General Department of the Information System (GDIS). The office has been also recognized as Highly Commended in Hospital Builds & Infrastructure Award 2013 for Hisham A. Alsager Cardiac Rehabillitation Center. Two (2) projects have been shortlisted for WAF 2015 to be presented in November 2015 in Singapore.   At the academic level he has held teaching positions as a full time professor at the Boston Architectural Center (USA) and at Kuwait University (Kuwait). He has also participated in some professional meetings organized by NUQAT & YourAOK (Kuwait). In 2012 he has been invited to speak and present the 2011 Cityscape Award winning project in the World Architecture Congress held in Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Center. He has also been selected as one of the Juries in the WAF Awards 2012 held in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. In 2014 he has been invited as guest speaker at Future Interiors Qatar (held in September in Doha, Qatar); at the RIFF 2014 International Architecture Expo Conference (held in November in Bucharest, Romania)
